  1. What pressures do you feel led to the death of Len Bias?

I think a lot of things pressured Glen. I think a big part of that is what his friends were doing. They were all top of the line excellent players and he was the best around. i think that he was doing that amny drugs becuase everyone else was and that is was fine it had never done anything bad to him and no one every found out and they probably never would. i think he was also felling pressures about his rebok deal and to be a good player in the NBA. this made him want to just get away from it all and to do this he wanted so help from cocaine.

Who do you feel is the most to blame for his death and why?

I think it was his group of friends that really brought him down because they didnt get that education like he did and probably did drugs a lot more then him and i think they brought him down with them and because he could be pressured easily and he was still nieve. this really let to his death and his i think his old friends are to blame for his death. If they didnt make him to that muck cocaine or even not make him do it at all he would have played in the NBA.

I think he would have gone to the NBA and had a great career but i is hard to tell because some people just flop under the pressure. i think that this did effect the celtics because they did intisapate him to develope and become a great player that they could have after Lary Bird. i think we could say he would have had many good years and become a great player.

  2. The pressures that Len Bias faced that lead to his death were the pressures of trying to be the best basketball player he could be and trying to live up to his fathers expectations. Due to these pressures Bias used cocaine to relieve his stress. The pressures also of his everyday life of social activity, grades in school, and peer pressure contributed to his death. Another pressure was with the Reebok endorsement. This forced Bias to play and act the best of his ability because he was now representing a huge company. Len’s friend Brian Tribble had been doing cocaine and Len gave into peer pressure and joined in. The cocaine the two were snorting was actually 98% pure cocaine. Due to this overdose, Len Bias suffered from cardiac arrhythmia and died on June 19, 1986. I think that Brian Tribble was the person to blame because he did not contact the police when Bias started to not function well. After several minutes of not functioning normally, Bias collapsed and then Tribble contacted 911. I think that Bias’ impact on the NBA would be suit their anticipations perfectly because he was the second pick of the draw and went to the Celtics. Also, Michael Jordan, who is thought to be the best basketball player of all time, wasn’t even drafted to like after the top three. Bias had extraordinary hopping ability, his physical appearance and health, and his intelligence of the game.
